Three Pedestrians Injured in Truck Accident

Three pedestrians were seriously injured in an accident on East 37th Street at its intersection with First Avenue in Manhattan on Tuesday January 23, 2018 at around 10:00 in the morning. The pedestrians were struck and subsequently rolled over by a postal truck that backed into the crosswalk. As the pedestrians were crossing the street, the driver backed up into the crosswalk and struck the three pedestrians. The driver continued to back up and roll over the three victims without realizing what had happened. According to the New York Daily News, the driver didn’t see the pedestrians because they were in his blind spot and kept rolling over the victims because he thought there was a bump on the road. The pedestrians were all rushed to the hospital by ambulance. The postal driver remained at the scene of the accident and was given a summons by the police.
